Show Cancelling:

Although this was a great show, it didn't last long. It only lasted one season (From Sept. 96- Feb. 97). WB took the show off due to low ratings, even though this show had some very high ratings. From what I have heard, there was some criticism on some of the humor on some of the episodes that weren't appropriate for young viewers, but that was due to misunderstandings of the jokes said in the show. Many "Parents" thought some of the jokes were "wrong", even though they were just natural truth. 

Also, the FCC got in control and said something about "3 hours of educational TV". Technically, Road Rovers didn't fall into that category and was pulled. This show actually did have some educational moments, but otherwise, it was meant to be entertaining and action. I don't see why they should stop a show like that. A great show gone to waste.

There was one big controversy, the Russian Name Song. It was a song that was played on the episode, "A Day in the Life". It was about how Russians getting their names. Which is why Exile speaks his full name in that episode. Unfortunately, all went well until one line. There was a word called, "Sonovich". People misheard this as "Son of a *****". Therefore, WB edited that entire scene out of that episode after it's first airing. (There are videos on Youtube that show that song) 

It was a very funny scene if you ask me. I never knew it existed until I heard talk about it on the Internet. Then I finally saw it for the first time in January 2007. In my thoughts, I thought the scene should have stayed where it was and just edit out "that line" where people misheard the word. Although without it, the episode was still awesome.

Fan Support:

Due to the canceling of the show, fans were outraged. They began to form letter campaigns and petitions in efforts to bring the show back. They also sent dog toys, such as tennis balls. That was really shocking to me when I first heard about this (earlier this year), that they would send dog toys in desperation of getting this show back. I would have probably done the same if I knew that they were canceling the show. Unfortunately, their efforts were almost in vain, due to the fact the show did not come back to life with new episodes. However, from what I have heard, their efforts caused the show, along with others like Freakazoid, to be aired on Cartoon Network, where I first saw the show. No new episodes but all the previous episodes re-running. So I like to thank the fans for that.

My Thoughts:

I am sad that they canceled the show. It was a great show. It wasn't there to start any fights or controversies. It was there to just entertain and have originality. It's one of the best shows I have seen in my life. It shouldn't have been canceled. I really wish that people didn't take the jokes being said in the show the wrong way. While I admit there were a few  slips (Like in Episode 4 with Hunter vs Guard on sled), most of the jokes were just telling the truth and not meant to be "perverted". There are great shows on today, but not as great and original as Road Rovers. I really, really hope that WB or some other developer out there who will look at this show and bring it back.

But otherwise, I still thank WB for making this show. I still believe this show can come back, at least a DVD release. As long as we still have it mind and put our efforts into it (which is one reason I made this site), we can make a change. Never give up for anything!
